Model independent analysis of Λ baryon polarizations in Λ b → Λ l + l − decay

We present the model independent analysis of Λ baryon polarizations in the Λb → Λl+l− decay. The sensitivity of the averaged Λ polarizations to the new Wilson coefficients is studied. It is observed that there exist certain regions of the new Wilson coefficients where the branching ratio coincides with the standard model prediction, while the Λ baryon polarizations deviate from the standard model results remarkably. The possibility of beauty baryon polarization measurement by cascade decay angular distribution analysis in the channel Λ J/ψ → pπ−l+l− is demonstrated. The error analysis shows that in the proposed LHC experiment ATLAS at the luminosity 104pb−1 the polarization can be measured with the statistical precision better than δ = 0.010 for Λb and δ = 0.17 for Ξ 0 b .
